The M82 grenade is a fragmentation grenade that was developed by the United States military and used primarily during the Vietnam War. It weighs approximately 1.25 pounds and contains around 3 ounces of Composition B explosive. The grenade has a delay fuze that can be set between 4 to 5 seconds, which allows the user to throw it before it explodes. It can be thrown up to a distance of about 30 meters and has a lethal radius of approximately 15 meters. The M82 grenade is usually thrown by hand but can also be launched from M79 grenade launchers and other grenade launchers. It was used extensively by the US Army during the Vietnam War and has been replaced by newer fragmentation grenades like the M67.
